Jimmie Edwards, a Conroe native, served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970. He served with Lima Company, Third Battalion, 5th Regiment, First Marine Division. During his tour in Viet Nam, Corporal Edwards was severely wounded in August, 1969. He received several distinguished citations for bravery including a Bronze Star with V for Valor, and a Purple Heart. After several months of recuperation, Jimmie returned to his hometown of Conroe, Texas. He completed his education at Sam Houston State University receiving his degree in Political Science. Shortly after his graduation, he successfully ran for the Texas House of Representatives serving both Montgomery and Walker Counties for four terms. Later, he was elected as Montgomery County Judge. He then spent several years in the private business sector. Currently, he is retired and lives in the Cut and Shoot area with his wife, Debbie. His daughter Rachael, son-in-law, Paul Threadgill and granddaughters, Shelby and Jamie also live in Conroe. His daughter, Sarah, lives in Colorado and competes on the U.S. Paralympic Team in Biathlon.
