Foerster is a partner in the Conroe law firm of Darden, Fowler & Creighton, L.L.P., where he concentrates his practice in the areas of general, civil, and trial law; business law; municipal law; estate planning; probate; and real estate. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University and the University of Texas School of Law. After serving four years as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the U. S. Air Force, Larry moved to Conroe in 1978 as an Assistant District Attorney. From 1981 through 1984, he served as the elected County Attorney for Montgomery County, Texas.
Larry has been a member of the Texas State Bar Association for 40 years and is a Life Member of the Texas State Bar Foundation, an honorary organization. He also has served as a director for the Montgomery County Bar Association and in 1986 was honored by the Bar Association as its “Lawyer of the Year”. In 2009, Larry was recognized by the Texas City Attorney’s Association with a “Merit Certification in Municipal Law.” Over the past 20 years, he has enjoyed the highest national peer rating for an attorney by Martindale-Hubbell—“AV Preeminent.”
Larry has served tirelessly on the many community boards including the Conroe Chamber Board of Directors on a number of occasions, and in 1991 he served as the Chairman of the Board. He also served in 1998 on the Conroe Chamber Building Committee. Larry has previously served as president of the Kiwanis Club of Conroe; president of the Board of Trustees and the Development Chairman for Covenant Christian School in Conroe; Board Member of Montgomery County United Way; member of the Citizens’ Advisory Committee to Montgomery College (now Lone Star College-Montgomery); founding trustee of the Montgomery County Alternate Dispute Resolution Center; Board Member and Secretary of Montgomery County Youth Services; and past chairman of the Board of Elders for his church.
Larry currently serves as a board member for Conroe Live, Inc. a non-profit organization promoting the arts, entertainment, culture and history of downtown Conroe as well as a member of the City of Conroe Tourist Council and the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Flag, Inc, a non-profit organization that supports the Lone Star Historical Monument and Flag Park.
In May 2012, Larry was appointed chairman of the Montgomery County Historical Commission. During his first year as its chairman, the County Historical Commission received the “Distinguished Service Award” from the Texas Historical Commission for its exemplary work in the promotion and preservation of local history and historical structures in Montgomery County.
Larry is proud to be a 5th generation Texan. He has recently completed a lengthy Montgomery County, Texas Historical Timeline which was published in January 2014. He currently has plans to collaborate on a pictorial history book on Conroe with Dr. Robin Montgomery, a nationally recognized history scholar and author.
Larry and his wife, Martha, have lived in Conroe since 1978, and have two children: Emily, a local realtor who is married to Barkley Dominey, and Daniel, a senior at Sam Houston State University.
