David Martin was born in Santa Anna, Texas in 1940. He had ancestors in Waterloo, Republic of Texas from the 1830´s, Shelbyville, Republic of Texas and in Danville, Texas from the 1840´s. All of his primary, secondary and college education were received in Texas. He received three FAA maintenance certificates and a pilot certificate and worked in aviation from 1969 until 2004. He is past president of Montgomery County Alliance for the Mentally Ill and state representative to the Texas Alliance for the Mentally Ill. He is currently a member and volunteer with Save Austin Cemeteries, a member of Lone Star Chapter of The Sons of the Republic of Texas and a Colonel in the Texas Army.
