Patti Atkins is the currently serving as President General of The Daughters of The Republic of Texas, the oldest women’s organization in the state, founded in 1891. The DRT saved the Alamo and has had custodianship of the shrine for 106 years, at no cost to the taxpayers of Texas, all the while never charging admission to visitors.
Mrs. Atkins has been a member of DRT for fourteen years, serving in many offices, and as President of her local chapter Franklin Hardin, in Liberty, Texas as well as serving on the board of management of the DRT and the Alamo Committee.
A professional business woman for over 35 years Mrs. Atkins holds a commercial pilot license and owned and operated a 125/135 air carrier certificated freight business. At this time Mrs. Atkins is in the Oilfield Welding and Fabrication field.
Patti serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Finance in the Daisetta United Methodist Church, Board of Directors – Tri-County Services, Past Treasurer General, San Jacinto Descendants, Treasurer East Liberty County Historical Society, Liberty County Historical Commission, Order of the Eastern Star, Liberty-Dayton Chapter #634.
Descended from John Robert Craddock, a hero of the battle of San Jacinto, Mrs. Atkins considers it an honor and duty to preserve the history of the Great State of Texas.
