One of the highlights of The Lone Star Monument and Historical Flag Park is the annual flag replacement ceremony, held each year on April 21, honoring the anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto and the Republic of Texas.
The public is invited to join in this year’s fifth anniversary Flag Replacement Ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 on the outdoor museum grounds located at 104 Interstate 45 North – adjacent to the Montgomery County Library.
Those attending will be entertained by the patriotic voices of 30 second-graders from Lone Star Elementary as well as members of The Sons of the Republic of Texas, Lone Star Chapter No. 58, The Woodlands, dressed in period attire, bringing with them the historic cannon, Rolling Thunder.
Friends of the Flag Foundation Board Member Dale Trimble will serve as moderator for the special event.
Thirteen battle and rally flags that replicate those that flew during the Texas Revolution will be raised by notable members of the Montgomery County community.
